Hair Shaming!!!!

When I hear someone make or post a comment (via Facebook) like

"I understand the natural hair thing but comb your hair."

I'm like...No you don't and you sound stupid....lol

This hairstyle was achieved without combing my hair.  Yes these are Locs!!!:))

Another hairstyle that was achieved without combing my hair. I used my fingers to detangle my hair then I braided my hair while it was wet.  The next day I took out my braids and this is how I rocked my natural uncombed hair...

Here is another comment I see all the time

"I'm natural but I don't understand that hairstyle"

I'm like you are not suppose to because it's not your hair...duh..

Just because you are natural that does not give you the right to judge someone for rocking their natural hair a different way. My braid out or locs will not look like everybody else with natural hair for couple of reasons.

  • My texture is different
  • The density of my hair is different
  • The length of my hair is different
  • My hair color is different

I'm so tired of people saying negative things about other people who choose to wear their hair natural. So this is what I have to say to them:

  • Stop hair shaming!!!
  • If body shaming is wrong then so is hair shaming!!!
  • If racism is wrong then so is hair shaming!!!
  • If bullying is wrong then so is hair shaming!!!
  • If sex discrimination is wrong then so is hair shaming!!!
  • If age discrimination is wrong then so is hair shaming!!!

Hair shaming is wrong point blank period...So stop it!!!!

Well guys that's all I have for my first blog in 2018...lol

Yes I was annoyed but now I'm over it...lol

Thank you everyone for reading my blog.  Stay happy, natural and healthy:)

Loving Natural Hair

To love natural hair means to have knowledge about it, to accept it and to appreciate it.

Knowledge is power and it matters.  Natural hair is hair texture that has not been altered by chemical straighteners, including relaxers and texturizers.  These chemicals are known to be very damaging to the hair and health.  That is why so many people with curly hair and kinky curly hair have decided to stop using them.

Accepting that natural hair is like DNA is important. Textured hair comes in different lengths, curl type, and density.  Some people have course dry hair with a tight curl pattern while others have a loose curl pattern with soft hair.  Some individuals have thick strong hair while others have thin weak hair.  In other words all hair is different, understanding that will eliminate ignorant comments and promote self-love.  Accepting how natural hair looks and feels will help an individual to appreciate it better.

Appreciating natural hair promotes self-love.  I believe everyone should appreciate all forms of natural hair whether it's straight, curly, kinky curly, locs, wavy or in braids.  People all over are wearing their hair in its natural state. They are in our communities, jobs, schools, on the internet and on the streets.  Knowing, accepting and appreciating what natural hair is helps prevent harsh judgment towards one another and it promotes self-love.

Well guys that's all I have for you today.  Thank you everyone for reading my blog.  Stay happy, natural and healthy.

TWA Update

What's up!!!

What's up everyone!!!

I hope everyone is doing well today:))

I'm great and I'm loving my TWA, which is such a surprise for me.  Back in the day I hated short hair.  My first two big chops were the worst stages for me during my natural hair journey.  But now I'm enjoying this stage so much that I'm thinking about leaving it short.  I find it much easier to maintain now.  I can do a wash n go with no problem, it takes me less time to do my hair, and I don't have to worry about detangling.

I must admit though I feel like I'm learning how to do my hair all over again.  It's been awhile since I wore my hair loose and a lot of new methods have surfaced.  Even though I have been natural for a total of seven years I'm still learning.  So far the best method for me is the LCO method (Liquid, Cream/Conditioner, Oil).

My favorites products so far are:

  • V05 Moisturizing Conditioner
  • V05 Clarifying Conditioner
  • Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner
  • Shea Moisture Dry Oil Mist
  • TRESemme Naturals
  • Castor Oil
  • Bentonite Clay
  • Aloe Vera Juice
  • Olive Oil
  • Rosemary Essential Oil
  • Ylang Ylang Oil
  • Lavender Oil

Checkout how I'm rocking hair now:

Tight Curly Method

I honestly believe it's not how you wear your hair, what clothes you wear or how beat your face is that makes a women beautiful.  It's about how she feels about herself on the inside.  Sometimes it's hard for woman to do that when the media, social media, people and family members are our biggest critics.  The best advice I can give is to ignore the drama and keep your head up.  Your confidence will shine through and show your beauty from within.

On that note, that is all I have for today.  Thank you everyone for reading my blog and your continued support.  Stay happy, natural and healthy.
